Imaging plays a major role in the detection and staging of breast cancer and in the monitoring of treatment.

In this era of rapidly changing management of breastcancer, it is important to have knowledge of the staging classification for breast cancer and to understand the management options of the surgeon, radiotherapist and oncologist, in order to provide relevant information to optimize patient care.

This article is an overview of breast cancer staging and treatment.
You have to realize that there are local differences in treatment strategies and that at this moment new targeted therapies are being developed.
